Getting around Dubai, the buses are the best mode of transport. They are fairly cheap, but you can always use the state taxis that have fixed rates. Travelling in private taxis requires superior negotiation skills.
Tourist attractions are abundant. Experience history in the Dubai Museum, or visit landmarks like the Clock Tower or Port Rashid. Get a glimpse of the land's rich heritage and go down to the Al-Bastakiya Area or the Faheidi Fort. A shopper's paradise like the Wafi Shopping Mall, and the must-see Gold Souk, will leave you gasping for more. You can also stop by the many entertainment parks such as the Ski Dubai or the Wild Waki. Dubai has it all, and more.
Not to be missed when in Dubai
Tour the Burj Al Arab
It stands at a height of 321 meters, in the shape of a sail boat on artificially-created land in water. The hotel is a human marvel and offers 202 duplex suites. If you wish to see the indoors you have to pay, but its worth the price.
The Lost Chambers, the Atlantis -- Palm Jumeirah
Hotel Atlantis is located on the beautiful artificially-created island called Palm Jumeirah, which is in the shape of a palm tree. The Lost Chambers is a huge aquarium with the man-made remains of the mythical city of Atlantis.
Old Dubai, the local market
Take a ferry and cross over to the other side to visit the old city of Dubai. It resembles the local market of Chandni Chowk at New Delhi. Shop here for the best of Dubai's dry fruits and local handicrafts at minimal rates.
Skiing
That's right! Experience ice in the hot desert at Ski Dubai. All equipment and clothing is included when paying your entry fee.
Visit Bastakiya
The traditional courtyard houses and classic wind towers offer a glimpse of how Dubai once looked.
Journey on the creek
A natural sea-water inlet which cuts through the centre of the city. A stroll along its banks gives a glance into old trading traditions.
