Day 1

Arrive Cochin
* You are met by our representative who will assist you through immigration. Transfer to the hotel and check-in.

Day 2

* Morning tour of Cochin; a city till today influenced by medieval Portugal; Holland and England.
* You will visit St. Francis Church; built-in 1503 by Portuguese Franciscan friars where Vasco Da Gama was buried for 14 years before his remains were transferred to Lisbon. His tombstone still stands at the church.
* Nearby is the Mattancherry Palace or “Dutch Palace”. The central hall on the 1st floor was the coronation hall of the Rajas of Cochin. Other rooms depict scenes from the Ramayana and Puranic legends connected with Hindu gods.
* Amazing are the Chinese fishing nets; these cantilevered fishing nets line the entrance to the harbor mouth. They were introduced by traders from the courts of Kublai Khan.
* Also visit “Jew City” with its Synagogue constructed in 1568. Hand-painted; willow-pattern floor tiles were brought from Canton in the mid-18th century by a Rabbi.
* Return to the hotel.

Day 3

Cochin – Periyar
Cochin-Periyar (road transfer; Approx 4.5 Hrs)
* After breakfast drive to Periyar National Park. Periyar has one of the world’s most fascinating Natural wildlife Sanctuary noted for its Tiger Reserve; geography; diverse wildlife and scenic beauty.
* Evening Boat ride on the Lake Periyar where one can have a unique experience of viewing wildlife at close quarters from the safety of a boat on the lake. The greatest attraction of Periyar; however, are the herds of wild elephants that come down to play in the lake.
* Return to the hotel.

Day 4

Periyar – Kumarakom (By road; Approx. 4.5 Hrs.):
* After breakfast leave for Kumarakom and on arrival check-in at hotel.
* The village of Kumarakom is a cluster of little islands on the Vembanad Lake; and this small water world is part of the Kuttanad region.
* The enchanting backwater destination of Kumarakom is a small village that is a cluster of little islands on the Vembanad Lake in Kerala.
* Kumarakom strengthens Kerala’s reputation for being God’s own country with its unbelievably beautiful mangrove forests; coconut groves and emerald green paddy fields interspersed with enchanting waterways and canals adorned with white lilies. It is a moving experience when gliding through this network of waterways.
* Return to the hotel.

Day 5

* Day at leisure.
* Overnight at your hotel in Kumarakom.

Day 6

* Day at your leisure.
* Overnight at your hotel in Kumarakom.

Day 7

Kumarakom – Alleppey
* Check-out in the morning from your hotel and board the houseboat.
* Cruise towards Alleppey; the backwaters cruise takes you through a network of canals with a backdrop of villages and coconut trees on the shores.
* Overnight on board the houseboat.

Day 8

Alleppey – Cochin (By Road; approx 1.5 Hrs) Cochin – Mumbai (By flight)
*Transfer to Cochin airport and board the flight for Mumbai.
* Meet and assist on arrival and transfer to hotel.

Day 9

* After breakfast, leave on a half a day Mumbai tour.
* Visit the Gateway of India; Mumbai’s principal landmark. This arch of yellow basalt was erected on the waterfront in 1924 to commemorate King George V’s visit to Mumbai in 1911.
* Drive past the Secretariat of Maharashtra Government and along the Marine Drive which is fondly known as the ‘Queen’s Necklace’.
* Visit Mani Bhavan; where Mahatma Gandhi stayed during his visits to Mumbai.
* Continue to the Victoria Terminus; the principal railway station of Mumbai; a beautiful building that symbolizes the ethos of the Edwardian architecture; well worth a photo stop.
* At the Church gate station see the Dabbawala’s- a unique tiffing delivery service run by over 5000 semiskilled workers of delivering lunch to corporate executives from their homes.
* Visit ‘Dhobi Ghat’; an open laundry where Mumbai’s ‘dirties’ are scrubbed; bashed; dyed and hung out to dry – a nice photography stop and well worth a visit.
* Visit the ISKON Temple devoted to Lord Krishna in time for the noon aarti and then continue to the colorful Crawford market and Flora fountain a large bustling square; in the heart of the city.
* Return to the hotel after the tour.

Leave Mumbai
* Transfer to Mumbai airport.
* On arrival at the airport you will board your flight for your onward destination.
